Engineered Transfer Systems

WEBA is the world's largest supplier of Engineered Transfer Chutes. The patented "Cascade" chute is unlike any other in the world. It uses "shelves" to capture the conveyed material so that most wear surfaces have material on material. WEBA chutes are so efficient that they reduce dust levels to less than 95% of visible dust without the use of skirtboards, dust seals and extended covers. Problems with dust, wear and impact can be greatly reduced or eliminated with a WEBA Chute.

WEBA Coal Chute
This picture shows a close up of the discharge of a WEBA chute with PRB coal (which is very dry and brittle). There are no skirtboards, covers, or dust seals used. The material discharge is about 25cm (10 inches) to the right of the camera.

Most all transfer chutes used in material handling applications have been designed without the use of modern engineering tools. This lack of good design produces major problems- excessive and expensive chute wear rates, dust, material damage, excess belt wear, noise, spillage, and continual maintenance time and expense.

All WEBA chutes are based on the following design criteria:
  • Control the material velocity from the inlet to the delivery
  • Center load on the discharge belt
  • Load the discharge belt at the belt velocity
  • Reduce wear and maintenance to negligible amounts
DCT represents the WEBA Chute in the Western United States and Chile. M & J Engineering of South Africa are the designers and owners of the designs. They started in the business in the early '90s and have built over 1000 chutes around the world. Power Techniques, Inc. of Alma Illinois holds the USA manufacturing rights.

Why WEBA is the "World's Best"

  • The ability to design the chute so that no substantial material impact occurs. Results in dust control that eliminates >95% of the visible dust at the discharge.
  • The WEBA Cascade chute has a patented "Deadbox" design that uses the product material to form a wear surface. With controlled flow and a very small surface area for wear, the WEBA chute is practically maintenance free.
  • The WEBA chute is based upon over 1000 chutes installed worldwide- more than all competitors put together. The experience of WEBA engineers delivers a perfect flow controlled chute that eliminates almost all of the cost associated with material transfer chutes.
  • Replacement of the small amount of wear surface is fast and low cost.
  • WEBA chutes are being used in most all materials- copper, gold and iron ore, diamonds, coal, aggregates, cement, sand, etc.
  • WEBA also offers the SuperTube chute that uses a smooth inner surface with wear liners instead of the "Deadboxes". This design is sometimes required for sticky materials.
Whether replacing an existing chute or a new installation, the WEBA chute is the most cost effective choice. The low wear rates and no impact on the belt will substantially reduce operating costs and dust levels at transfers, not just when installed but for the entire time the chute is in use.

DCT offers different technologies for keeping industry clean and dust free. The WEBA chutes are an alternative to other dust control methods if there is a cost justification for replacing existing chutes. DCT can provide quotations on all of the dust control technologies we offer, so you can compare and choose one that is best for you!
